2012 Heart Ball at the Mirage Hotel Las Vegas, NV

MAN CAVE: "There's a Beer with Your Name on It" was auctioned off along with a Harley Davidson Leather jacket at the AHA Heart Ball Saturday May 19th.  All proceeds benefited the American Heart Association. It went for full market value.

The Plein Air Convention

There was a wonderful time to be had of learning and meeting fellow artists at the Plein Air Convention at the Red Rock Casino this past weekend.  The rain didn't stop the artists from painting at Spring Mountain Ranch State park on Saturday; and Sunday was the grand finale at Bonnie Springs/Old Nevada with lots of artists set up to paint the landscape. I think we set a world record! Looking forward to next year in Carmel! Thanks to Eric and all the others at Plein Air Magazine for making this happen.

Plein Air painting at Spring Mountain Ranch and Bonnie Springs, Nevada this weekend with a record number of artists, over 750! This is sure to be an "exciting" event. Hopefully, the snow won't reach our elevation!

RI.P. Thomas Kincade.  From Elizabeth B. of Arizona: There is a lot of snarky elitism in the art world. Mr. Kinkade was a master of color, composition and light, and lots of people find pleasure in his work. That his paintings make people happy is, I guess, a mortal sin in the arrogant art critics' minds. Galleries are filled with bad art that doesn't resonate with anyone and doesn't sell, but extolled by "art critics". We need to remember that many art critics are unsuccessful artists.

City Lights Show

The Maioli Brews painting "BEERATHON" is on display at City Lights Art Gallery in downtown Henderson, NV (3 East Army Street 89015)  and will be here until the end of March. Stop by to see it in person! It's available for $1500. I painted this one with drinking beer and running marathons on my mind.

Based on foot traffic and even more importantly, peoples' reactions and comments, the Palm Springs show was a success!

Count Down

Only 11 days before the Palm Springs show; trying to finish up four 24" x 30" paintings. This has been my biggest challenge so far, 4 large paintings in 6 weeks.  Time to get back to work!
